To help promote DreamWorks’ upcoming film, “The Bad Guys”, Melcher Studios created an augmented reality filter for Snapchat and Facebook. This filter dynamically projects a virtual bank vault into the user’s surroundings through their smartphone camera. The vault then plays an animation of it opening to reveal the movie’s characters within.
The filter successfully engaged users by bringing the world of “The Bad Guys” into their everyday surroundings, creating an immersive and interactive promotional experience. This activation increased user interaction and anticipation for the film while showcasing playful and imaginative storytelling. The integration on both Snapchat and Facebook ensured a wide reach and accessibility across diverse demographics.
