Blood Glucose Testing
Learners work through the complete process of performing a blood glucose test for a person supported. This includes preparing supplies, following proper hand hygiene procedures, preparing the lancing device and glucose meter, obtaining a blood sample, and recording the resulting glucose reading. Learners are also challenged to interpret the results and observe the person supported for signs of high or low blood sugar. Based on the symptoms presented, they identify the condition and review the appropriate first aid response before completing proper equipment cleaning and sharps disposal.
