Outcomes:
The Mobile Driving Simulation allows the user to experience driving an RCMP cruiser through an obstacle course, offering an opportunity for users to learn how RCMP recruits are trained for driving. This interactive simulator has created an interesting, educational experience for visitors to the Heritage Centre, providing the Centre with a new, innovative installation that increased traffic and length of visit.
To help promote the new experience, the Heritage Centre worked with a local television news program to feature the simulator during a live newscast. Melcher Studios also created a mini version of the simulator for the RCMP to use at trade shows, to both support public engagement and promote the RCMP as a career choice. Engagement with the mini simulator has been impressive. The RCMP reported having 10,000 users through it at one local trade show.
Benefits:
The RCMP Heritage Museum wanted to show the public a glimpse into a typical day in the life of an RCMP recruit. One of the secondary goals was to increase awareness of the RCMP as a career choice, by highlighting cadet training. The response to the simulator by the general public has been overwhelming. The mobile version of the simulator had more than 5,000 people drive it over a three day period during Agribition.
