Give Students the Practice They Can't Get in a Classroom

Lab time is limited, equipment is expensive, and live simulations carry real risk. VR Hub extends your lab capacity and lets every student repeat procedures until they're ready — safely.

Stretch Lab Time Without Buying More Equipment

A welding bay can serve four students at a time. A VR module can serve four students simultaneously and run all day without consumables, gas, or protective equipment wear. Saskatchewan Polytechnic-style programme delivery — where students need hands-on time with real procedures before moving to live equipment — maps directly to what VR Hub offers.

Students in trades, healthcare, or lab sciences can complete foundational procedural practice in VR before touching live equipment. That means live lab time is spent on advanced work, not introductory walkthroughs.

  • No consumables — run welding, HVAC, and lab modules all day at zero material cost
  • Students repeat procedures as many times as needed without supervisor overhead
  • Reserve live equipment time for advanced and assessment work

Employer-Ready Graduates Leave With Real Procedural Knowledge

Employers consistently report that new graduates know the theory but freeze when they encounter real equipment. VR Hub addresses that gap directly — students who have completed the Welding or HVAC module have already seen the workflow, handled the virtual tools, and made mistakes in a safe environment before the first live shift.

The Truck Driver module, developed with the Regina Work Preparation Centre, was built specifically to give students real pre-trip inspection and highway driving experience before they sit in a Class 1 cab. That curriculum-to-VR connection is what distinguishes this from generic simulation software.

  • Students arrive at practicum with procedural familiarity already built
  • Instructors can measure readiness before sending students to live labs
  • Employer partners receive graduates who have more than classroom exposure

Drop-In VR Labs, Blended Learning Ready

VR Hub doesn't require curriculum restructuring. Most instructors integrate a module as a 20–40 minute drop-in session — either as a pre-lab primer before students use live equipment, or as a post-theory exercise to reinforce what they just learned in the classroom.

The Facilitator Tool gives instructors real-time visibility into each student's session from a tablet. You can pause a simulation, give verbal coaching, adjust difficulty for advanced students, and monitor a group simultaneously — making VR lab time genuinely instructor-led, not just unsupervised headset time.

  • No curriculum redesign required — drop-in addition to existing labs
  • Facilitator Tool: instructor oversight of multiple students simultaneously
  • Stats Hub: individual student data for progress tracking and assessment

Built for Institutions, Not Just Individual Learners

VR Hub's platform features are designed for the reality of post-secondary delivery — group sessions, instructor oversight, student tracking, and multi-cohort scheduling.

Facilitator Tool — Group Delivery

Run multi-student sessions from a single instructor tablet. Pause simulations, monitor progress, adjust difficulty in real time, and guide students through procedures while they're in VR.

Stats Hub — Student Assessment

Per-student performance data: completion, score, time-on-task, and procedural accuracy. Supports instructor assessment and identifies students who need additional coaching before live work.

Questions Colleges Ask Before Subscribing

Practical answers for department heads, instructors, and curriculum coordinators.

VR Hub modules are drop-in lab additions — no curriculum restructuring required. Most instructors run a 20–40 minute VR session as a pre-lab primer or post-theory exercise. The Facilitator Tool lets instructors control sessions from a tablet, adjust difficulty, and monitor multiple students simultaneously. Stats Hub captures student performance data so instructors can identify who needs additional support before moving to live equipment.

It depends on your session format. Many institutions run VR as a rotation — 4–6 headsets can support a class of 20 in a single 90-minute lab period. For simultaneous full-class use, you'd need one headset per student. Melcher Studios can advise on the right hardware configuration for your lab format and budget.

Yes. VR Hub subscriptions include onboarding support for your instructors — covering headset operation, the Facilitator Tool, and how to integrate sessions into existing lab time. Ongoing support is available via email and phone throughout your subscription.

Yes. Stats Hub records completion status, score, and time-on-task for each student session. Instructors can view performance at both the individual and cohort level — useful for identifying students who may need additional support on a specific procedure before practicum or live lab work.

Yes. Institutional pricing is available for colleges, polytechnics, and training institutes — structured per department or institution-wide. Contact us via the form below or at info@melcher.ca to discuss a pricing structure that fits your budget and headset count.

Yes. Melcher Studios offers custom module development for institutions that need program-specific simulations — a particular lab environment, regionally-relevant equipment, or a module aligned to a specific Red Seal or provincial programme standard. Custom development is available as an add-on to your subscription. Contact us to discuss scope and timeline.
